Parents & Carers
Working together to help every child feel safe, supported and ready to grow.
Working in Partnership with Families
Supporting your child together
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. At Maple School, we aim to support families throughout their child’s time with us, building positive relationships based on trust, openness and a shared commitment to helping every pupil succeed.
Parents and carers know their children best. By working closely with families, local authorities and other professionals, we can develop a fuller understanding of each pupil’s strengths, needs and experiences. This helps us provide personalised education and support that reflects the individual child rather than taking a “one size fits all” approach.
Open Communication
Keeping the conversation going
Good communication between home and school helps children feel secure and ensures that the adults around them are working towards the same goals.
We encourage parents and carers to share information that may affect their child’s learning, wellbeing or experience at school. This might include changes at home, emerging concerns, successful strategies or achievements that deserve to be celebrated.
Each pupil is provided with a home and school diary, helping to support communication and maintain a useful link between families and the school team.
Personalised Support
Understanding the whole child
Every pupil joins Maple School with their own abilities, interests, challenges and previous experiences of education. Our staff take time to understand what helps each child feel comfortable, communicate effectively and engage in learning.
Learning and support are adapted around individual needs, with clear routines and positive relationships helping pupils build trust, confidence and independence.
Maple School also works in partnership with Prosperity Children’s Services to provide therapeutic wrap-around support. This strengthens our trauma-informed and trauma-responsive approach, helping children feel safe enough to connect with others and take part in learning.
Celebrating Progress
Recognising every meaningful step
Progress can look different for every child. Alongside academic development, we recognise achievements in areas such as communication, emotional regulation, relationships, confidence, independence and engagement.
We want parents and carers to share in these successes. By recognising meaningful steps forward, we can help pupils understand how far they have come and encourage them to approach future challenges with greater confidence.
Keeping Children Safe
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
The welfare, health and safety of pupils are central to everything we do. Maple School follows national safeguarding guidance, and all staff complete safeguarding and child protection training that is refreshed annually.
We are a “telling school”, where pupils, parents, carers and staff are encouraged to speak up about anything that concerns them. No concern is considered too small, and information will always be handled sensitively and in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Health, Wellbeing and Everyday School Life
We support pupils to understand the importance of healthy choices and positive daily routines.
Children have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy breakfast when they arrive at school, providing time to settle in and socialise safely with pupils and staff. A school lunch is also provided, with a range of choices and opportunities to experience foods associated with different cultures, traditions and celebrations.
The school has a dedicated medical room and secure facilities for storing medication. Individual risk assessments are created where required, and nominated members of staff are trained to administer prescribed medication safely.
